A Jamaican man arrested at the Lynden Pindling International Airport after drugs were found in his suitcase has been jailed for 15 months.
Kevar Barrington Lindsay, 33, of Clarendon, Jamaica, was arrested shortly after he arrived in The Bahamas on March on a Caribbean Airlines flight.
Police selected Lindsay for a search and found 13 packages, totaling nine pounds, of marijuana hidden underneath clothing in his suitcase.
Lindsay said that the bag belonged to him, but he didn’t know about the presence of the drugs because a friend packed his bag for him.
Lindsay pleaded guilty to charges of possession of marijuana with intent to supply and importation of marijuana at his arraignment.
He received concurrent sentences of 15 months.
Lindsay will be deported to his native Jamaica on completion of his sentence.
